Comair takes on Nationwide’s best

Johannesburg – Thursday 5 June 2008. In recent weeks Comair Limited, the holding company for British Airways (domestic and regional) and, has employed over 70 former Nationwide Airline staff in various roles within the company including pilots, cabin crew, airports and revenue management.

Says Gidon Novick the airline’s joint CEO, “We’re fortunate to have the best team in the industry and we’re always looking to take on additional talented and energetic people. We’re delighted to welcome these ex-Nationwide staff onto our team.” One of these staff members includes Daniel Perry, the pilot who successfully landed the Nationwide aircraft that lost one engine in Cape Town last year.

With oil prices still rising there could be further rationalisation in the local aviation industry as there have been 24 airline failures internationally in the past few months.

Novick concludes, “There are still tough times ahead for both airlines and airline staff. However, we’re very glad that we can continue to offer career opportunities to quality airline and travel professionals.”
