Jo’burg - Sunday 1 March 2009. Following the arrest of the man suspected of making a recent bomb threat to the airline, kulula has warned travellers against making threats to the safety and security of its staff and customers.
Said Noel Skinner, the airline’s Executive Manager: Airports, “We may be a light-hearted airline but making bomb threats, even as a joke, either at the airport or onboard any of our aircraft is a criminal offence and will be dealt with severely.”
The recent bomb threat caused major disruption to kulula’s operation at great cost to it and inconvenience to its customers. kulula’s staff members will continue to co-operate with the South African Police Service (SAPS) as the matter now goes to court.
Skinner concluded by commending the SAPS for their quick action in apprehending the suspect and members of the Airports Company of South Africa in Cape Town for their assistance. He also commended the kulula team for dealing with the bomb threat efficiently. “Our staff’s primary concern is safety and they followed our emergency procedures to the ‘T’ in dealing with the situation as per their stringent training. I have every confidence in their adherence to our world-class safety standards,” said Skinner.
