British Airways first with businesses for two years running
Johannesburg, 30 August 2010: Comair Limited, operator of British Airways in South Africa and kulula.com, has received another accolade in brand excellence, being awarded top spots in the recent outcome of the prestigious Sunday Times Top Brand Awards 2010.
For the second year running, British Airways came out tops in the domestic airlines category in the business-to-business component, followed by kulula.com in second place this year. British Airways also took second place in the business-to-consumer component.
The top three places in the category: Domestic Airlines – Business-to-Business
The annual Sunday Times Top Brand Awards, in partnership with TNS Research Surveys, recognises the country’s leading brands by polling South Africans on their favourite and top of mind brands across a large number of sectors.
Research methodology comprised a combination of face-to-face and telephonic interviews with some 3500 adult individuals in the consumer study. In the business-to-business category 400 business leaders were interviewed about their specific business requirements and experiences.
“We place enormous value on these awards,” said Heidi Brauer, Executive Manager, Group Marketing, for Comair. “They are a tangible confirmation of our customers’ response to our service excellence promise,” she said.
Brauer added that Comair sees this as a clear indication that corporate South Africa has experienced and acknowledged the passion and dedication that drives both the British Airways and kulula.com brands.
“Key to our company’s success is our continuous drive to achieve customer delight and exceed expectations. Globally, airlines offer much the same in terms of flight services, so guaranteeing a truly great travel experience remains the key differentiator, and this is where Comair, through its distinctly different brands, aim to make its mark.”
Underlining the difficult market conditions in 2010, the outcome of the 2010 Sunday Times Top Brands Awards proved that participants in this year’s survey generally favoured more well-entrenched and trusted local brands. “Being recognised as such proves that both the British Airways and kulula.com brands have become an irrevocable part of South Africa's preferred brands landscape,” Brauer said.
“We thank Sunday Times and its partner, TNS Research Surveys, for the important role they continue to play in encouraging and recognising excellence in branding in the South African marketing landscape through the annual Sunday Times Top Brands survey,” Brauer concluded.
